COVID Future Survey
Project Description
Virtually overnight, a large fraction of U.S. households has transitioned from a reality of long commutes to telecommuting, from in-person to online classes and business meetings, and from in-store to online shopping – even for groceries. Many of these changes were happening already, but COVID-19 has pressed the fast-forward button. After the threat of contagion is gone, to what extent will American society “go back” to our pre-COVID-19 way of life? Knowing the answer to this question is critical for making good business and policy decisions. To gather data and gain insights into the future, a team of engineers, planners, and geographers conducted the COVID-19 and the Future Survey, collecting data in multiple waves throughout the pandemic to track the evolution of behaviors from its early stages to the post-pandemic era. The insights derived from the survey will be crucial in planning for the post-pandemic world, helping researchers and planners make informed decisions about the future.
Faculty members and students from the School of Geographical Sciences and Urban Planning and the School of Engineering at Arizona State University, as well as the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and many other researchers contributed to the survey design. The National Science Foundation, the TOMNET University Transportation Center, the Knowledge Exchange for Resilience at Arizona State University, and CONVERGE at the University of Colorado Boulder provided funding for the survey.
This page serves as an archive for all the research products related to the COVID Future Survey, including papers, webinar recordings, slides, and data. If you have any questions, please contact Deborah Salon at [email protected].
